Sell someone a pup

Funny Story: The Invisible Guard Dog

Tom was browsing online for a guard dog to protect his new house. He found an ad:

“Elite Security Pup – Trained in stealth, silence, and intimidation. $500.”

Excited, he paid and received a small box with a note:

“Meet Shadow. He’s invisible. That’s why he’s so stealthy.”

Tom waited days. No barking. No growling. No dog.

He called the seller, who said, “If you can’t see him, that means he’s doing his job.”

Tom had officially been sold a pup.

He now owns the most expensive imaginary dog in town.

🐶 "Sell someone a pup" means to trick someone into buying something worthless or misleading, often by making it sound much better than it really is.
