What are the behaviors of a confident person?

Observe confident people around you. You’ll find these 9 behaviors in them:

1. They don’t cross their arms.

Confident people don’t cross their arms because they’re not feeling defensive, nor do they have anything to hide.

2. They don't constantly check social media.

Mindlessly scrolling through social media can waste more time than you imagine. A confident person knows how to use their time wisely to be more productive.

3. They listen 10 times more than they speak.

Truly confident people already know what they think, they want to know what you think.

4. They celebrate their peers’ successes.

Insecure people don’t want others to succeed. When confident people say “good luck” to someone, they sincerely mean it.

5. They don’t seek approval from others.

Confident people gain attention due to their brilliant work. Since their self-worth comes within, they don’t need approval from others.

6. They never gossip.

Confident people realizes that another person’s private is none of their business. When people engage in gossip, all it serves to do is make themselves more judgmental and toxic.

7. They’re in a pleasant mood most of the time.

Confident people aren’t easily thrown off their emotional game. They don’t feel insulted or slighted as easily as other people, and this is part of their appeal.

8. They maintain eye contact.

Eye contact is a shared experience and one of the most powerful tools in human face-to-face interaction.

9. They aren’t ashamed to ask for help.

Confident people are secure enough to admit a weakness. Saying “Can you help me?” Shows tremendous respect for that individual’s expertise and judgement.

The four things that doom relationships

Author: John Gottman

John has studied thousands of couples and show Four things came up again and again that indicated a relationship was headed for trouble. He call them "The Four Horsemen Of The Relationship Apocalypse"

#1: Criticism

Criticism is staging the problem in a relationship as a character flaw in a partner. The Masters did the opposite: they point a finger at themselves and they really have a very gentle way of starting up the discussion, minimizing the problem and talking about what they feel and what they need.

#2: Defensiveness

The second horseman was defensiveness which is a natural reaction to being criticized. It takes two forms: counterattacking or acting like an innocent victim and whining. Again, the Masters were very different even when their partner was critical. They accepted the criticism, or even took responsibility for part of the problem. They said, “Talk to me, I want to hear how you feel about this.”

#3: Contempt

Contempt is talking down to their partner. Being insulting or acting superior. Not only did it predict relationship breakup, but it predicted the number of infectious illnesses that the recipient of contempt would have in the next four years when we measured health.

#4: Stonewalling

It’s shutting down or tuning out. It passively tells your partner, “I don’t care.” And 85% of the time it’s guys who do this.

John is a professor emeritus at the University of Wrashington and co-founder of the Gottman Institute. He’s published over 190 papers and authored more than 40 books, including:
  • Principia Amoris: The New Science of Love
  • The Seven Principles for Making Marriage Work
  • The Relationship Cure: A 5 Step Guide to Strengthening Your Marriage, Family, and Friendships

Reading: ”X-ray Art”

Tia X quang ( X-ray ) không chỉ ứng dụng trong chẩn đoán y khoa mà còn có thể dùng để tạo ra tác phẩm nghệ thuật , thời trang hay trang trí . 1. Read the text

Podiatrist Dr. Paula Fontaine is preparing her next x-ray shoot… and it’s not of a foot or a leg. Today she is photographing a turtle shell that her business partner Joseph Moisan will turn into a work of art. Together they own “radiant art studios” that sells fine art prints, jewelry and home goods made from prints from the x-ray machine in Dr. Fontaine’s office in Westminster, Massachusetts.

- It’s a collection of images based on both organic and inorganic subject matter. We take pictures of all sorts of things like light bulbs, feet, shells. And we create art using a process called digital map painting on top of the x-ray images.

Moisan was originally hired by Fontaine to work on her computers. But after he learned how to operate the x-ray machine, he noticed that he could treat the pictures like his regular digital photographs.

- It’s kind of like a serendipity kind of moment because that little light bulb goes off and you think to yourself, ‘I could make this work.’

Since then the duo has displayed their work at numerous art shows and on their website, challenging the notion that beauty is just skin-deep…

  • Business confidence among European companies in Viet Nam continues to improve, according to Eurocham's 11th quarterly EuroCham Business Climate Index (BCI) survey released yesterday.

The Business Climate Index conducted in May rose to the midpoint, from 48 to 50 points, following three quarters that had registered below 50.

This is the second consecutive increase, which suggests that European companies were regaining trust in the Vietnamese market.

The key indicators were an increase in revenue and orders, and optimism about the overall economic outlook.

Despite positive signs, the BCI remains at 50, far below the highpoint of 79 in 2011, and the improvements over the last two quarters remain limited, with an increase of two points per quarter.

More than half of the businesses that took part in the survey are active in the services industry, a quarter in manufacturing, and the rest in trading and other activities.

In line with the last survey, there has been a continued increase in respondents assessing their current business situation as positive, from 40 per cent to 43 per cent.

The previous quarter saw a rise from 26 per cent to 40 per cent, and the current level reflects improved business sentiment.

Looking to the future, the business outlook has seen significant improvement, with members having positive expectations rising from 30 per cent to 43 per cent.

This development may be linked to the ongoing EU-Viet Nam FTA negotiations, the survey said.

Although business confidence has improved, 57 per cent of respondents assessed their outlook as either "neutral" or "negative".

Still, the survey found that reported investment appeared to be improving, and that more companies intended to have a significant increase in investment. This doubled from last quarter's 7 per cent to 13 per cent.

Overall, investment plans look more positive than they did a year ago, with 76 per cent of respondents either expecting to keep or increase their investment levels, compared to 72 per cent a year ago.

The number of respondents expecting to cut investments further declined to 19 per cent from last quarter's 24 per cent.

This again indicates a returning faith in Viet Nam's medium-term future, and shows that Government initiatives are inspiring increasing confidence and optimism.

When asked about their expected number of orders and revenue in the medium-term, 84 per cent of respondents said they would remain constant or would improve.

In addition, concerns about inflation are declining, with 65 per cent of companies expecting inflation to have limited or no impact on their business in the medium-term, compared to 55 per cent in the last quarter and up from 43 per cent a year ago.

Members were also asked to indicate what they think the rate of inflation will be, and the average came to 5.13 per cent.

This is very close to last quarter's estimate of 5.12 per cent and down half a percentage point on last year's 5.63 per cent.

Respondents' appreciation of the macroeconomic situation is also improving.

Whereas last quarter 57 per cent expected a further deterioration in conditions, and a staggering 72 per cent the quarter before, this has now fallen below the midpoint to 48 per cent.

In other words, 52 per cent of the respondents believe the economy will stabilise and improve in the future, something which has not been seen in the Business Climate Index since 2011.
